I thought Hill Start Assist was enabled on any gradient above 3%. My experience is that the gradient has to be at least 15% for the green light to appear. HILL START ASSIST. I've driven nothing but manuals my entire driving life, and instinctively launch on hills without the system kicking in, or if it does I can't tell; I'm not sure this is a big deal.
